Whether a client is seeking a great deal or is trying to get an offer accepted over a dozen other competing offers, our Senior Sales Associate Chris Featherston has a passion to give his very best to the process from start to finish. Chris embraces the art of negotiation, the power of reading his audience and the importance of building relationships the right way—the last of which explains why he enjoys being a member of the Barkett Realty team.

Chris appreciates the boutique setting at Barkett Realty and shares, “This agency is like a second family for me.” He originally joined Barkett’s sister company, Property Valuation Specialists, as an appraiser, and today specializes in residential and multi-family real estate sales and acquisitions. Chris’ analytical background and experience in the appraisal industry have resulted in having a strong understanding of market values, which brings keen insights to the buying and selling process for his clients.

With nearly 20 years of real estate experience under his belt, Chris sets clients up for future success in real estate, whether they are purchasing their first home for the right price or buying their first investment property. Regardless of their purchasing power, he takes pride in showing all clients how to invest properly. His proudest accomplishments in real estate thus far involved helping a client buy a triplex in a great neighborhood when there was no inventory on the market. The client lived in one of the units himself and the cash flow from the two tenants allowed him to live 100 percent free!

If Chris could go back in time to the start of his career, he would advise himself, “You can do this, and do it well. Don’t be afraid to put yourself out there.” As a longtime enthusiast of residential ownership and the art of investing, real estate felt like a natural career path and after 10 years of appraisal experience, Chris obtained his real estate license in 2016. Since its inception, Chris has been among the top-producing agents at Barkett Realty on an annual basis and has done nearly $60 million in total real estate sales to date.

Community involvement is a core value of Barkett Realty, and Chris is no exception. He’s a proud member of the Pinellas Realtor Organization and a past member of Big Brothers Big Sisters. He also loves to coach—especially the youth athletic leagues his son plays in, the Junior Tritons basketball team and the Florida Celtic soccer league.

When it comes to those in his life who inspire him to be his best, Chris looks both up and down his family tree. “My parents instilled a strong work ethic in me at an early age, and my mother always told me to treat others with respect and kindness, regardless of their walk in life,” he shares. “My kids inspire me to succeed so I can set an example of what hard work can attain, and they inspire me to work hard so I can secure them for their future.”

Fun facts about Chris: He has climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro and has also served two years in AmeriCorps (similar to a domestic Peace Corps). Chris is a proud Florida Gator—an honors graduate from the University of Florida. His perfect Sunday in Tampa Bay would include a round of golf at Innisbrook Resort in Palm Harbor and a trip to St. Pete Beach with his family, followed by a visit to the Dalí Museum and a sunset meal at Doc Ford’s.

“My favorite aspects about the St. Petersburg and Greater Tampa Bay real estate market are the growth, the change in demographics and knowing what is still to come,” he says.
